Bay Equipment sells, rents, and services E-Z Drill concrete dowel drills from our Newport News and Chesapeake stores. As an authorized E-Z Drill service center, warranty repairs are done in our own shop. E-Z Drill builds its pneumatic dowel and tie-bar drills in Perry, Oklahoma, and they're the standard on DOT paving, full-depth slab repair, and airport work where holes have to be straight, on spacing, and fast.

The lineup runs from the single-gang on-grade units (85B through 240B) that one operator can move around a repair patch, to slab-rider models that ride the slab for lane additions and tie-bar work, to multi-gang and equipment-mounted drills for production paving. We rent the single- and two-gang units most contractors need for repair work and can quote the larger configurations for paving crews.

Because these drills are air-powered, we pair them with the right towable compressor from our rental fleet and supply the carbide whirlibits, so a repair crew picks up one order and goes to work.

Service

Our shop services E-Z Drill units: air motors, feed cylinders, chuck and bit-retention assemblies, hoses and lubricators, and the slab-rider carriage and wheel assemblies. As an authorized E-Z Drill service center we handle warranty repairs as well as routine service. Bring the drill to either store; most single-gang units fit in a pickup.

We stock carbide dowel bits, drill steel , and Timken Rok-Bits in the common diameters for the units in our fleet, plus hoses, lubricator oil, and the wear parts that go first; other parts typically arrive within 7 business days. Do you deliver?

Yes. We deliver and pick up across eastern Virginia, including Newport News, Hampton, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. Delivery is priced by distance and equipment size; ask when you call.

Can I rent it first and buy later?

Often, yes. Renting is the easiest way to find out whether a machine fits your work. If you decide to buy, ask us about applying the rental toward a purchase or about ex-rental units we have available.

What size air compressor does an E-Z Drill need?

It depends on how many drill heads are running and whether the unit has a dust collection system. A single-gang unit with dust collection typically runs on a towable compressor in the 185 cfm class, and multi-gang drills need more. Tell us which model you're using and we'll pair it with a compressor from our rental fleet so both show up on the same truck.

On-grade or slab rider: which one do I need?

On-grade drills sit on the subgrade or the adjacent slab and are the usual choice for full-depth repair patches and small jobs, since one person can reposition them. Slab-rider models ride on top of the existing slab and drill into its edge, which is what you want for lane additions, tie bars, and long runs where you're drilling continuously along a joint. If you're not sure, describe the job and we'll recommend one.

Do you stock dowel drill bits (whirlibits)?

Yes. We keep carbide bits in the common dowel diameters for the models we rent and sell, and can order anything else from a number of manufacturers. We order carbide bits by shank size and type, diameter and length; most special orders arrive within a few business days. Bring the dowel size and depth and we'll match the bit.

Can I rent an E-Z Drill for a single repair job?

Yes. Single- and two-gang units are in our rental fleet for exactly that: a full-depth repair or a short run of tie bars where buying doesn't make sense. Rent the drill, the compressor, and the bits together, and if you end up doing this work regularly, ask us about the best choice of drill for a purchase.

Is Bay Equipment authorized for E-Z Drill warranty repair?

Yes. Bay Equipment is an authorized E-Z Drill service center. Warranty repairs are handled in our own shop with genuine E-Z Drill parts, whether or not the drill was purchased from us.
